The Hérault by motorbike

Hérault gorges and Montpellier scrubland

“Always winding” this walk which crosses such different landscapes. The start is quiet and runs along the backdrop of Mediterranean forests and scrubland. Without warning, the road leads to the Grand Site de France Saint-Guilhem-le Désert / Gorges de l’Hérault ®. Under the Mediterranean sun, the road, refreshing, flirts with the Hérault river for about ten km before attacking the tumbling laces of the pretty Buège valley. Change of scenery when you arrive in Ganges at the foothills of the Cévennes National Park where you will take the path of the gentlemen glassmakers: a beautiful zigzag story that will take you back, between vineyards and scrubland, to Montpellier...

Between vineyards and the Orb valley

You will gain height with this route which joins in a turn of Grand 8 the middle mountain of the Regional Natural Park of Haut Languedoc. After a gentle start where peaceful straight lines lined with holm oaks follow one another, you will find yourself in two stages, three zigzags in the heart of the attractive Orb Valley surrounded by the vineyards of Saint-Chinian and Berlou. The road rushes into the Monts d'Orb and the ride becomes mysterious: the bends cross dense forests, skirt the sometimes dark and enigmatic hills or even illuminated by the Languedoc sun. More time, more walking: opt for a colorful descent to the magnificent Lac du Salagou.
