Saint Jean de Fos



Saint-Jean-de-Fos is a small village located in the department of Hérault, in the south of France. It is a picturesque village which has managed to preserve its traditional charm and its medieval architecture , with cobbled streets, stone houses and shaded squares.


The village is known for its craft heritage, especially pottery. Since the 17th century , Saint-Jean-de-Fos has been a center of pottery production , with local artisans producing pottery for culinary and decorative use, using traditional techniques.


Today, pottery is still a big business in the village, with workshops and shops offering handcrafted pottery, classes and demonstrations. The Pottery Festival , held every year in summer, is an opportunity for visitors to discover the work of local craftsmen and admire the various pieces on display.


Besides pottery, Saint-Jean-de-Fos also offers other attractions, such as the 11th-century Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, as well as hiking trails in the surrounding countryside.

Argileum



Located in the heart of the pottery village of Saint-Jean-de-Fos, Elie Sabadel's workshop has been preserved since the 19th century and transformed into a museum called Argileum - Maison de la Poterie . Using the latest technologies in museography, the museum offers an immersive and fun experience, allowing visitors to discover the history of pottery, the techniques of potters and the life of artisans of the time.


The tour is both educational and fun , offering sensory immersion. The aesthetic and contemporary museum guarantees a memorable moment for all visitors. Demonstrations and pottery initiation workshops can also be organized to complete the visit.
